The original concept of the application was to track brother's addresses and dues paid. Since then it has been expanded to include a record of most Masonic information relating to the brother.  The application is used in a number of Grand Lodge Jurisdictions world wide.  Individual the application is reported to save the secretary many of hours of work a year.  when used in conjunction with the Grand Lodge Application and/or MinuteMaker (early beta version) even more secretary time and effort is saved.  Some Secretaries have reported the savings in finding dues in arrears can pay the application within it's first years operation..  The cost for the full package is less than the cost of most office furniture or equipment such as a printer.

Lodge Secretary's Assistant is the core application or pivotal application for the Craft Lodge Management Suite.  The application can extract particular information to be sent electronically to the companion application at Grand Lodge.   

Also available is the ability to copy update data for a brother to a file that can be forwarded to a compatible application at Grand Lodge to update their records (degrees received, change in rank etc) on each brother.  This feature is not included in most versions as it requires the companion application at Grand Lodge.

The Craft Lodge Program was originally developed to assist the Secretary a local Lodge.

Development Philosophy

Rather than break development into numerous distinct Versions the philosophy at WorkingTools Software is to undergo a continuous process of development and refinement.  This process has been found the most practical rout to take to add new features and refine old ones in response to feedback from users.  Within the application is a menu Item titled "updates" by selecting this item a download process will begin downloading the particular update files required for the user. To install the update the users is required to close Lodge Secretary's Assistant and open the downloaded files which are designed to expand into the Default directory of C:\Program Files\Secretary.  This process  at this time can be done for no charge for downloads over the internet and if the user wishes to have a new CD sent a subscription service is available at $30.00 a year for updates to be sent approximately 2 times a year.

A lodge management program like any database can be "Roughed out" within days; the time to painstakingly analyse each step and implement the refinements is the part of the development process that takes the time.  WorkingTools Software has done this analyse for you.

The Lodge Secretary's Program is a comprehensive Lodge Management tool that has consumed in excess of 6000 hours to produce (2-3 equivalent man years of full time development.)

A recent refinement is the addition of a module to produce the minutes of a meeting quickly and efficiently even before the members have left the room if done on a lap top in lodge.
